Wilderness wedding at Ultima Thule Lodge
Today we are celebrating the first anniversary of our dear friends Arturo and Elisa. One year ago today, this beautiful Spanish couple was married at Gibraltar Rock in the middle of the Chitina River. In true Alaskan bush pilot form the groom flew his own Super Cub to the gravel bar upriver from the lodge and the bride arrived in another. The otter carried the wedding party including the bush pilot officiant, Paul Claus. It was a spectacular late summer day and an equally fitting ceremony that brought much joy to all our hearts.
Arturo and Elisa came to visit us 3 years ago, already bush pilots with their own airfield in a small Spanish Village. Since then they have started a photography business, Chasing Alaska, Corp. based out of Ultima Thule and share their love of flying and nature with the guests who come to visit.
All of the Alaskan family members who got share their big day were clad in matching Patagonia attire (upon request of the groom), the bride wore mukluks and everyone flew home for the reception within the radiant flower gardens of the lodge.
It was a distinctly unique and beautiful Alaskan wilderness wedding.
Cheers friends! We love you and look forward to years yet to come!
